    Job Description
    Since 1960, the Ralston Area Chamber of Commerce has served its members (~300 active member businesses and organizations) and the Ralston community (population of 7,300+) through focused programs and events promoting and growing member businesses in the area.  The Board of Directors, made up of member volunteers of the Chamber, are excited to search for a new Executive Director that will continue to lead and carry out the Chamber’s mission:
    “To empower and connect businesses and our citizens to grow the Ralston area community through innovative leadership, programming and education.”

    • Operate within and advance the policies of the Chamber
    • Assure that the organization priorities are responsive to member needs and serve to advance the Ralston area’s economic welfare
    • Maintain open communication with the Board, and work with the Board in the governance of the Chamber; bring issues to the Board in a timely fashion
    • Encourage member participation
    • Manage member and public perceptions of the Chamber
    • Monitor the Chamber’s fiscal condition
    • Manage Day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including staffing
    • Develop the leadership and direction of the officers and Board of Directors
    • In collaboration with the Chamber Treasurer, to expend funds within budget parameters and within policy and consistent with good business practice
    • To hire within budget parameters and establish terms of employment for, direct the activities of, evaluate and terminate employees of the Chamber
    • To execute contracts on behalf of the Chamber as approved by the Board in accordance to purchasing policies
    • To give voice to the Chamber in the public arena
    Duties & Responsibilities
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including management of programs, membership, events and marketing efforts
    • Work with the Chair to prepare and  present agendas and materials for the Board and Executive Committee meeting a week in advance of such meetings
    • Develop goals and objectives or recommendation to the Board
    • Serve as the principal spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber
    • Represent the Chamber at business and community events, meetings, etc.
    • Build partnerships with other organizations
    • Support the officers of the Chamber
    • Advise the Chair in the appointment of personnel and volunteers to committees, task forces
    • Direct the annual and long-term planning process
    • Fulfill the officer and committee responsibilities assigned to the Executive Director in the Chamber by-laws
    • Attend Chamber Board committee meetings and provide staff support to committee efforts
    • Participate in higher level membership and sponsorship sales
    • Identify and develop revenue generation programs and events
    • Serve as the chief liaison with other Chambers of commerce in the region and the State
    Performance Measurement
    • Annual salary range for this role is $50,000 - $65,000, negotiable based upon experience and overall qualifications
    • Attainment of annual objectives and goals developed with the Board
    • Accountability in maintaining financial stability and overall financial performance
    • Attraction and retention of members; growth in membership
    • Member feedback
    • Receive supplemental compensation based on achievement in Key Performance Areas as identified by the Board:
      • Membership
      • Non-Membership Revenue and Events
      • Expenses
    Preferred Qualifications
    • B.A. / B.S. in business, communications, economics, marketing or equivalent experience in a relevant field
    • Previous experience of progressively responsible business, Chamber of Commerce, or trade association management
    • Supervisory experience preferred
    • Accomplished and comfortable public speaking skills
    • Event planning and coordination experience
    • Public relations / media relations experience
    • Government relations experience a plus
    • Ability to successfully engage in fundraising / sales activities

    Minimum Skills
    • Demonstrated success in business development, member recruitment and fundraising
    • Communication: verbal, written, and listening skills; ability to present and persuade; media relations.  Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individual at many levels within a community.
    • Technology literate including social media, email marketing and membership relationship management software systems
    • Management skills: people, financial, project and event
    • Administrative and organizational skills
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Politically savvy; ability to tactfully work with differing opinions
    • Ability to gather, broker information and build consensus
    • Problem-solving skills
    Physical Expectations
    • Physical activity that includes extensive time working on a computer and on a telephone
    • Local travel, driving and exposure to weather conditions
    • High levels of energy, varied and long hours
    • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
    • Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs
